Mandela MarketPlace has a strong commitment to local, under-resourced and minority producers. Because of this, Earth's Produce Distribution was launched to support small, local farmers by establishing an alternative distribution network that passes on wholesale prices to neighborhood stores and other community based businesses. 40% of the produce purchased by Earth's Produce comes directly from local family farms with whom we have long-term working relationships. Our partner farmers harvest using sustainable practices on farming lands in Hollister, Watsonville, Castroville, Dinuba, Capay Valley, Escalon, and Sanger.

The farm families we work with produce enough to support their families, steward the soil, and leave a secure legacy for their children. However, many cannot access mainstream distribution channels and market their produce to established distributors in the urban centers where their primary retail markets exist. Earth's Produce provides an alternative distribution network that services under resourced producers and improves their financial stability by linking them to an emerging urban retail base.

Mandela Marketplace leveraged resources for a warehouse, cold storage unit, cargo van, and a core staff to build Earth's Produce Distribution and connect food from marginalized farmers to local grocers, restaurants, corner stores, and community organizations that would not otherwise have reliable access to these foods at discounted prices.
